Presumably some of the usual suspects who would comment on the games are playing in this event?

Supratit Banerjee up on board 5 for round 9, playing IM Yichen Han (who beat Bodhana in the previous round). Freddy Gordon playing IM Harriet Hunt on the adjacent board. All four on 6/8.

The top two score groups after round 8:

Rank after Round 8
Rk. SNo Name sex FED Rtg Pts.
1 8 IM Davtyan, Artur ARM 2416 7
14 IM Royal, Shreyas ENG 2331 7
16 IM Willow, Jonah B ENG 2300 7
4 1 GM Gormally, Daniel W ENG 2578 6,5
3 IM Roberson, Peter T ENG 2505 6,5
6 IM Ledger, Andrew J ENG 2426 6,5
7 GM Gasanov, Eldar UKR 2418 6,5
21 FM Eckersley-Waites, Tom ENG 2264 6,5

Live broadcast gone doolally in Royal-Roberson. Something wrong with the transmission.

Freddy beating Harriet in the Scotland-England clash.

Shreyas takes a half point sole lead with 2 rounds to go. Has not played Gormally or Willow yet.

Catastrophic 15-point swing for Andrew Ledger against Tom Eckersley-Waites. 58.Qc4 possibly one of the worst moves on the board. It impacts the final rounds as it is Tom rather than Andrew who is now well in contention for the tournament.

Another live board glitch. Start of round 10 on Lichess is showing only 20 boards from the lower boards, not the top 100 boards!!

In round 10, Shreyas blunders horribly against Gormally and has lost. Tournament will be wide open going into the final round.

Lots of blunders and inaccurate play, even with the silicon machine looking over my shoulder. Wonder if the schedule from 10am to after 4pm with no break for lunch is impacting the levels of play?

Now Gormally (with Black and 8.5/10) playing Yichen Han in final round to try and finish ahead of the chasing pack of 5 players on 8/10.

I think the time limit of 15m + 10s p/m feels more like blitz than rapid, which probably has a lot to do with it.
