And as I said last year why would you only have three live games from the Masters when you have seven live boards available.

Live boards are often more of an attraction for the players than the spectators. Juniors especially get quite excited about the opportunity of playing on them. It was the same with demo boards in the old days.

They are now also showing two from the Challengers, one from the Major and one from the Minor.

Hebden-Bates transmission packs up at move 37. Even with just three games they seem unable to cope.

Perhaps there's some sort of inverse correlation between competence and popularity. Maybe Trump could pick up a few tips.

Richard Bates of this parish, who in his Forum posts sometimes portrays himself as a weak IM, has beaten GMs Baburin and Hebden and shares the lead on 4/4 with Nigel Short and IM Alex Lopez. The round 5 pairings are Short v Baburin and Bates v Lopez, which gives our man in Bunratty an interesting chance.

Nearly worked out - but didn't. I'd guess that Richard noticed the possibility of 27...Rf3 just a second too late, about as soon as he played 27 Rxe5.

Also noteworthy was Bogdan starting with five decisive results before finishing with a 17 move draw to share third.

@ Lawrence - as any facebook user will know by now - Bogdan took a quick final round draw to share FOURTH and receive no prize money at all.
