Because AI is a bull**it machine. It is very good at producing things that it thinks sound true, without reference to their actual truth-value.
(I suspect that Byrne-Fischer game gets referenced a lot with respect to the term "brilliancy prize" and the machine has probably picked up on that.)

The forum has known for a couple of years that ChatGPT is unreliable on issues of chess history.

Since it is my home town, I can assure you that it is not true. Where that comes from I do not know.
Only Soviet world champions we had visit us ever was Petrosian, who performed a simul once. Paul Habershon participated and drew with him. And Tal who was beaten by W.A. Cordon, a game which he was very proud of.
