The rating process for this is known metaphorically as ‘osmosis’ - at least that’s what the players think. We’ll have the run of Wanstead House so I guess sixty or more boards. Plenty of homework for our Rating Officer.

Indeed they were regular events in the past. SCCU Counties have been contesting the CMC trophy, known as the ‘Beer Pump’ since 1987 (Richard Haddrell would tell the story about how it was left behind in a pub where it was mistaken for a beer pump). And the John Philpott trophy was first contested in the mid-2000s. But this is the 2nd SCCU Jamboree after a hiatus.

Kent and Essex the only two entries for the Open (Beer Pump), so they are presumably just playing a ten board match.
