Today (6 August) I noticed a slight coincidence: a chess-related clue in both the Daily Telegraph and The Guardian crossword puzzles.
The Telegraph one was "Found a way to corner the king? (10, 5)".
The Guardian one was "Knight wears colour that's intense (7)".
I won't insult the Forum's intelligence by giving the answers though, in solving them, I of course had the advantage of seeing various letters revealed. They are both fairly easy, with the Guardian one being slightly the more difficult. I'll give you a clue - the Guardian one starts with the letter "V".

Re: Chess-related Clues in Crosswords
Tuesday 3 August's Guardian had 'Cunning chess player takes castle after start of play (8)'. Not such a satisfactory clue though for chess palyers, as it seems to feature a highly dubious abbreviation, as discussed here (which also gives the solution - it's 7 down):
