Filler needed

A player is needed to play in the British Championship this afternoon. Anyone who fancies a game against Roger de Coverly, apply here.

Happy to play via Yahoo! chess or equivalent, but I can't get the time off work to be there in person, I'm afraid...

Simul versus the Forum! (No, seriously, hope you find a filler, and good luck for the rest of the tournament, Roger).

I did have an email this morning asking if I was available to play Roger de Courcey this afternoon. Sadly I wasn't. An afternoon opposite Nookie Bear sounded quite appealing!

When I saw that yours was the last post on this thread, Sean, I was hoping that you were giving the forum live updates during the game. Perhaps you and Roger doing MasterGame or some such. Shame.

Posting on the forum during a game is a sure way to incur the wrath of the arbiter :D

It was actually Paul Robson. I asked Lara where my opponent came from and the answer was Newcastle/Northumberland. When the game started 1 e4 g6 2 d4 c5, my immediate thought was Sniper. But after 3 Nf3, he played cxd4 so it becomes an Accelerated Dragon. With 4 Nxd4 Bg7 5 Nc3 Nc6 6 Be3 Nf6 7 Bc4 d6, we transpose into a regular Dragon, but after 8 f3 Qb6 it's a sharp line last popular in the early sixties. In the pub, someone mentioned Hartston v Littlewood (N) from Ilford in 1964. I spent some time trying to recall or work out the theory and eventually settled for a solid alternative. The rest of the game will be on tomorrow's download.
