I think after say 16...Qb6 17.f4 Be5 it's not so easy for White to get his pawn storm going, Black has Bishop pair, more active pieces, and equally good attacking chances, also ideas of ...d6-d5 for example.
I still think any result is possible but prefer Black at this stage.

In the Seniors, Crombleholme and Barton drew. The round 4 pairings for tomorrow between the players on 2½ are Barton v Norman and Crombleholme v Timson. David Anderton is among the chasing pack on 2.

Re: British Championship Thread
Is board 1 still working? Unusually, I fell asleep for an hour and twenty minutes or so.
I only appear to have missed 7 half-moves on board 1 though.

Unless I'm missing something Lawrence Trent is a dead man today.

Re: British Championship Thread
i agree along with Mark hebden Lawrence was better i thought early but trent screwed up in huge timetrouble and he lost now along with Mark hebden the 4 pawns attack killed him against si williams .yes Alex howell and wells very slow players will be a time scramble there.

Re: British Championship Thread
My computer likes White (it doesn't much like ....Bd5, before that it thought the position equalish) but even if that were reliable, and material imbalance isn't always the best situation for computer assessments, I think the clock is liable to be as important as the pieces today...

Re: British Championship Thread
Looks like it (and he'd have gone down earlier had Howell found 29.c4 which wins immediately) but 33.Rxh7? was an error which might have been punished after 33...Rxb3+! which can't be wrose for Black.
