Well Ian any number of reasons. Might not like Richard - although Richard is a nice guy. Maybe adjusting to the outcome of the game - all went wrong pretty quickly. Maybe something outside the game. Maybe doesn't want to start drinking until 20.00 hours - who knows

yes gawain knows richard though from his younger days when he lived in york so iam not sure they dont like each other.the drinking one might be a reason gawin does like his red wine and beer.

If all these top players are screwing up as much as you say then maybe that's the reason why Jones is playing on. I can't help thinking you're going way over the top in your criticism. Inevitably players won't play perfect chess when in time trouble and when playing such high pressure games but I'd rather watch hard fought games like this than watch correctly played 20 move draws.

I couldn't agree more. I rarely if ever spend much time watching the super tournaments with random 2700 players battling out reams of theory and agreeing draws whilst still in their prep etc but I really enjoy this coverage of the british. Players that I know personally, playing real chess, and making the odd mistake or two !

maybe your right loz maybe ste Gordon postion was not as bad as I thought it was.but i really cant see anything for Gawin here . i have thought a glass of vino would be better than playing this postion. there are 2700s who like to win Nakmura is an example of that moro also.who play to win.

Yes they do, but I've never played against Naka or Moro, whereas I've probably played against about a third of the players in the British, so for me personally, Naka and Moro don't hold the same interest.

yes true james i agree always nice to see the championship of your home country cause you know all the players.and there always one or two shock results.gawin must be upset at losing this he playing on a piece and 2 pawns down.
