One of the people responsible for designing the branding for World Chess was in Hastings over the New Year, staying at the same hotel as me. She was unaware there was a chess tournament going on. I also had to explain to her that World Chess wasn't running a new World Championship, as she thought, it had been contracted by FIDE to run its existing World Championship.

"World Chess" is Agon as was.

Isn't FIDE trying to minimise involvement with them, to the extent it can get out of deals signed by Kirsan? In any event, much related to online chess or perhaps chess in general is now owned or controlled by chess.com who have history with Agon/World Chess.

Some chess content in Mind Games - The Experiment on Amazon Prime.

The link contains the claim that "Participants' international gaming rankings improved by an incredible 75%." What that means in a chess context is a mystery to me. The chess player in the film improved his FIDE rating from a pre-Covid rating of 2441 to a current rating of 2468, after dropping to 2394 at the end of 2021.

Looks a bit scary! In one picture the knight moves two squares forward and one square to the left - I wonder what would happen if those squares were occupied? And pawn promotions? Not sure how it would cope with very fast blitz controls, but for the coffee table and as a conversation piece it looks fun.
