Touch Move question

Post by John Upham » Fri Mar 29, 2019 11:45 am

Let us suppose Player A picks up one of his or her pieces that cannot be legally moved and touches one of his or her opponents pieces that could be legally captured but not by the piece initially moved.

Does player A have to capture the opponents piece ?

Thanks !

What if he then touches one of his own pieces that can move but cannot capture the piece? Does the arbiter have to step in and point out which pieces can capture the opposing piece that was touched, and does this constitute giving advice?

He has to capture the opponent's piece touched in Christopher's sequence.
The arbiter should not point out the pieces that could capture the opponent's piece. That would be advice.
