Just wonder what does people view on social chess?
The reason is in Manchester, we have set up a Social Chess Club for all type of players (male, female transgender etc)
and we get people in, but just wonder if any other people do this and also how do they get these chess set etc?

Tuesday Ludo Lounge, Southbourne Grove, Bournemouth 2.30pm to 5pm;
Wednesday Flirt Café Chess Club, Bournemouth 2.30pm to 5pm,
Wednesday Amberwood Inn, Walkford around 8pm;
Thursday, Highcliffe Community Association Greystones 1.45pm;
Thursday, Caffe Tratt, High Street Swanage, 10.15am to 12.15pm,
Friday The Crooked Book, Boscombe 11am to 1pm;

(There are no board fees, but chess players are expected to buy a drink, i.e tea/coffee/soft drink or something to eat)

Re: Social Chess?
It sounds like Dorset chess also have a reasonable pool of volunteers (or maybe one extremely dedicated one) to make these weekly opportunities happen.Neill Cooper wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2019 9:35 pmI think Dorset chess might have cracked it:

Re: Social Chess?
Before lockdown, we had a number of new members who didn't want to play serious chess and just wanted to play social chess which was fine.
They were all beginner standard and I enjoyed teaching them when I didn't have a serious match which they very much appreciated.
