Totally missed this news until I happened across this, I assume from his more recent twitter posts that CJ managed to keep his house?

As for the big A diagnosis he has lived with for 30 years, that must be a horrendous to wake up to each morning - yes medical advances these days do not make it the imminently deadly disease it used to be, but it is still ultimately killing the person.

I have to say his financial difficulties (or at least one of them) were self inflicted - the man wrote in an autobiography that he probably killed somebody, and then was surprised at the consequences - extremely silly thing to do, which I think he hoped would just sell some copy’s of the book.

"the man wrote in an autobiography that he probably killed somebody"

No he didn't - he said he defended himself when attacked.

One of the contemporary newspaper reports at the time of the autobiography.

If his autobiography was legally vetted, it's surprising that he wasn't advised to leave that bit out, or at least word it to preclude the Dutch police from being able to knock at his door.

He said something along the lines that “I fully expect I killed him” I remember reading it at the time.

Suffice to say if I’d seen a go fund me to help bail him out of that, I would have given £0.00

It is also possible to read the earlier part of this thread which informs us that there are actually differences between the account given in the autobiography and that given in the newspaper serialisation of the autobiography, for reasons that to my knowledge remain unclear and unexplained. But the differences should at least have been evident to all parties at the time.

I didn’t see that when I posted, but having clicked it I can see that it was not necessary as what I remember at the time is still largely accurate. But thank you for a totally pointless post Kevin, much appreciated 👍

Have to say, my honest reaction to this thread is "Who cares?"

You're welcome - always good to get the truth out there.

I am tempted to close this one off too and just wish him well.
Had quite enough of this thread so closing it off.
