I think Dominic Lawson's chess column in Standpoint magazine disappeared some months ago. He had plenty of space and I enjoyed what he wrote. Can't we ask why/where/how our President's scribblings got snaffled-? Shouldn't we all write in and complain?

Re: Dom
Maybe it is because Dan is no longer editor? But until you posted I knew nothing about Standpoint and having done a bit of research care little for its politics. I wouldn't buy it to read a chess column.
Is it not possible for you to use proper subject headings?

I'm speculating, but it may be part of the fall out from the FIDE Presidential election.
I was struggling with "Dan", until I realised that you were just making a point. I agree with you for once.

It seems that the column actually ended more than two years ago, and that its termination was a voluntary decision by Dominic himself.

I am glad Leonard Barden got to the truth of the matter. Much thanks.
David we have actually agreed more than once on this forum. If you were less excitable in your advocacy of certain issues we might agree more. And there is no way I'll agree with some of the nonsense. But to be frank I don't post to get agreement from anyone however august they may consider themselves. I post because I have something I want to say and this should be a place to do that without being be-littled by other posters. The idea that debate amongst chess players can happen with a degree of politeness is what has driven me - I'm sorry others don't always accept that basic premise.
