Well i’m sure somebody can explain the pairing system to me, but I don’t understand it...

Or, rather I possibly do, but as far as I can tell the acceleration has been ended after 3 rounds whereas I thought it was supposed to carry on until round 5? So i’d have been expecting all the lower half players on 2.5 to still be playing top half players on 2 (with the “Baku bonus” reducing from a full point to half a point). I notice also that one of the lower half players on 2.5 has got a half point bye so they will still be floating about near the top in round 5.

Or is it that the acceleration ends abruptly once there’s nobody left on 100%?

Just came on to post the exact same thing.

.. and me. Acceleration should be up to round 5, so most of the pairings are wrong.

I see they've now been changed, so I play someone rated a mere 831 points higher than the previous pairings.

I may be hallucinating but I think the pairings have just changed dramatically (shame, I was looking forward to Roger and Jack's battle) and they now look accelerated. I hope nobody looks at the original set and then doesn't check again later...

Maybe this forum is useful after all.

Arbiter 1 - "I just looked at the forum. You've forgotten to accelerate the pairings!"
Arbiter 2 - "Oh ****, so I have. I'll change them quickly, nobody will notice."

APOLOGIES two draws made and the wrong one published first.

Please let others know that the correct draw is now on Chess-Results

Again apologies.

A slight technical hitch with the computer caused a major problem.

Round 3 Petrov vs Petrov, White vs Fryer (I'm sure you're all aware that Whitefriars are an Order of Carmelites)

Ray Kearsley vs Tim Spanton is a much-awaited clash. They frequently visit the same tournaments. Will Tim offer a draw to his much-revered senior fellow-traveller? (No - ed.)

This system has too many 400 plus mismatches as far as I'm concerned. Not sure why it is being used. Gives players something to moan about like VAR.
Ooh I missed that GM/IM/FM/WIM by an armpit - with apologies to any female players.
I was also looking forward to Jack hacking Roger. Maybe later.

Players have been facebook-ed, emailed, told, etc.

If you know one please let him/her know to make double sure.

A few pages upthread, I'm sure you were telling me that I shouldn't moan about the pairing system!

Lifetime score is 4-1 in Jack's favour.
