It was the 2017 Championship in Llandudno.
..
The named sponsor was Capital Developments Waterloo Ltd, which was a Company associated with Gary Quillan.
If it had any involvement with pension liberation, this wasn't known at the time.
The Pension Ombudsman judgment mentions an entity by its initials CDWL without naming what it stood for.

We learn in paragraph 372 that
With regard to the period between 26 August 2016 and 21 September 2021, I note that Mr Williams executed both the 2018 Bright Loan Agreement and 2018 CBFS Loan Agreement, for and on behalf of Focus. He also purchased shares in Fleet Street on behalf of Focus and has stated that Focus loaned sums to CDWL prior to the entry by Focus into the 2018 CBFS Loan Agreement. I have seen no evidence that these prior loans by Focus to CDWL were documented by Mr Williams or Focus.
Earlier it names CBFS.
Capital Bridging Finance Limited (“CBFS”)

This is all confusing enough without there being two completely separate cases being discussed. The Moss case has nothing to do with pensions.

When Gary Quillan says that he will take “full responsibility” for failings in the advice and guidance given to Simon Williams, does that include giving him c£700k?

It's not really news, but I wonder if it has been previously reported on ecforum that gingergm has been dropped as a commentator on chess.com.

I don't think this adds greatly to what is already known. The deadline for payment has now passed.
