They could have called it Pess.

The Twitter account mentions a website, the website says it's a production of Queenside Games Limited and Queenside Games Limited are these people.

Justin, you need to explicitly say that Malcolm Pein is one of the directors of the company. Not everyone actually clicks on the links.

Having said that, I had failed to click on the Twitter link and was a bit horrified to see David Howell advertising it!

It seemed popular at the British Universities Championship last year. I don't understand the problem!

I feel that the title of the thread should be either explained or amended.

What's the likelihood of a chess starting position arising where there's any doubt about the result (assuming reasonably competent chess players)?

Without doing any statistical analysis, my gut feeling is that most games will start with a decisive material advantage for one player. If I'm right, that means it's really only poker most of the time, with an occasional game of chess thrown in.

Maybe others could understand it though, so why not try?

I tried it. (Well, if it got a harrumph out of Lord Robertson...)

When it says it's pairing you with a human player, it isn't. It's pairing you with a rock-stupid AI. If you've got a queen in your hand, you can go all-in without a second thought.

For all the thought they put into the hand mechanics, the most important piece of information you need for the poker phase is: how good is my opponent at chess?

I've tried combining chess, glasses of red wine and Twister in my university days.

Almost anything combined with red wine seems to work OK except perhaps "Operation" and "Bucking Broncos".
