I am reviewing the rules applying to the SCCU Junior Jamboree, on behalf of the SCCU.
One point rather strikes me: nowhere in the existing document is there a definition of what jamboree pairings are, or a reference to an authoritative source.
Can anyone help me here with a definition or a reference, please?

Re: Jamboree Pairings
The term "Hutton pairings" rang a vague bell.
A Google search unearthed this material on the ECF site
https://www.englishchess.org.uk/wp-cont ... irings.pdf
Without proof, I'd suspect that was written by Stewart Rueben.
Jamboree pairings have a long history, old BCF yearbooks may give an insight.

Re: Jamboree Pairings
Hutton pairings were I presume written by a person named Hutton. In the 1960's or early 1970's they were re-written by Clifford Hilton who improved them and made them "fairer". Cliff re-wrote them in one of his BCF capacities. It is too long ago for me to remember which one. As it says in the ECF site reference the improvements were in areas like colour sequences to stop a player getting three Whites in succession. As Roger says for many years the pairings were given in the year book. I used them regularly and found them useful. I think though that on this occasion the credit for developing them goes entirely to Hutton and Hilton.

The Jamboree page of the Oxford Fusion website, managed by Roger Thetford, provides a series of spreadsheets to assist in the running, publishing results and grading of jamboree tournaments.
Results of the 2019 SCCU Junior Jamboree are posted there.

Re: Jamboree Pairings
Does anyone have an actual specification, definition or set of rules laying out the manner in which Hilton pairings are used?
Or perhaps access to an old edition of the BCF Yearbook in which the topic is dealt with?
I would be very grateful.
