Down 5.7.

If you go here, you can use the rating change calculator.

Short is rated 2706. Efimenko is rated 2654. k = 10 for both (over 2400)

A game Short wins: +4.3
A game Short draws: -0.7
A game Short loses: -5.7

I think it's one of those games where Black slid downhill without ding anything very obviously wrong - though I thought that 43...g5 was bad for Black (but it may already have been lost with best play by then, I am not sure).

Anyway - all very impressive by Nigel Short, and I don't expect him to lose tomorrrow. When will it all end?

Blimey, Efimenko has obviously read my latest book - this is the kind of rubbish I play. Strange choice in a must win game.

Doubt that Efimenko has anything like compensation after 0-0.

Thanks Ian, though I had meant to ask "when will short's winning run end"?

The answer - no time soon, it seems. But it has been a long while since he met some of the very top players in the world. Roll on December, I guess...
