We are all isolated pawns

Let’s hope it’s all planned and under control, but I’m hearing the military and surprisingly a lot of tanks and hardware are rolling into London and up north to Edinburgh today. Similar reports in Paris. Are we about to be under martial law?

It's hard to imagine everything returning to normal. (what ever that was?)

When I first heard of the ibuprofen rumours I was thinking this was government spread because stupid
people with the virus use it to lower their temperature so they can get past the first stage of screening.

I'd like to think I'm wrong but if I'm right then that would not surprise me. The past few weeks have shown
humans in all their selfish glory and it will get worse.

But what the hey, keep smiling. Watch Avenue 5 (I get it on NOW TV) brilliant viewing for those currently self isolating.

(see previous post)
Not seen any tanks patrolling the streets of Edinburgh yet but will keep you informed....

Tanks being used to transport oxygen for the NHS would appear to be a cover story worryingly!

Really could people not spread rumours at times of emergency.

"Let’s hope it’s all planned and under control, but... "

There's no buts about it.

If you don't think deploying the army is part of the plan to keep things under control then you've been fooled into thinking you are living in a civilised state.

In the Roman Republic Roman armies were prohibited by law from entering the capital. On the rare occasions that law was broken it heralded the start of a military dictatorship.

In China the army did not seem to be on the streets of Wuhan, let alone Beijing, during the health crisis this year but you all know what happened in Tien An Men Square in 1989 when social and political unrest threatened the establishment.

Actually, for me the definition of a civilised state is one where the army carries oxygen in a time of crisis, rather than guns.

Does anyone remember the BBC Drama Series, Survivors?

"When a deadly virus wipes out most of the world's population, a handful of survivors struggle to stay alive."

The original was broadcast in the 1975s; however it was rehashed in 2008-2010 with the same basic plot/characters. The most annoying thing was the end of Series 2 where Abby Grant (Julie Graham) was left floundering on the ground whilst the plane took off with her son in it - the last scene showing a bloodsoaked Tom Price (Max Beesley) emerging from his hiding place in the plane.

What a cliff-hanger!!

Indeed as the BBC decided not to commission a third series and so the characters have remained in situ/limbo ever since.

What an opportunity to repeat the series now (thus scaring the population a la Orson Welles) and actually giving the show a proper ending.

No tanks as yet rolling along Princes Street but am expecting to see masked paratroopers dropping from the sky....

They will use military vehicles, jeeps and 3 tonners to transport stuff about not tanks.

No, but you have made a good case for trying to find it.

It was a good one. Max Beesley, supporting an American accent, has just been in Stephen King’s, The Outsider on Sky. Not a bad show either.

I remember it from the time, though I may have been too young to watch myself. The opening sequence is very striking. Coincidentally I was watching bits of it on YouTube just a few weeks ago, I can't remember why.
