But still, I am hopeful that June, July and August will months when we can play OTB.
What thoughts do people have on when clubs and traditional league activity can resume? Community Centres may be able to open from April, but as with last Summer and Autumn, two metre distancing and rule of six isn't "normal".

Clubs will depend on venues; leagues probably the Autumn, although some Summer leagues may give it a go?

For March through May, the London Online Chess League is about to start their second season. Entries are now open to all UK-based chess clubs should anyone wish to join during lockdown:

https://www.londonchess.org.uk

Team registration deadlines are the end of this week, with first matches played on Wednesday 3/Mar in an 11-week League.

If a third season goes ahead, it will aim to start on the first Wednesday of June and last for 11 weeks again. However, this is far from certain as it's possible OTB chess may be resumed during that time. This is something we will revisit closer to June.

Leagues depend upon venues just as much as clubs. In recent years most of my club chess has been played in one of four venues and I am not confident that any of those will reopen.

,,,,venues remaining closed, or not reopening, will a big hurdle for the recommencement of OTB Chess.

After speaking to officials from other clubs in our league, we are confident that all clubs will reopen. I've had a number of enquiries mostly from females asking about a chess club after watching The Queens Gambit.
Have you not thought about moving to the Fylde coast of Lancashire, Nick.
You can play for our club, Lytham or Bispham.

"You can play for our club, Lytham or Bispham."

I thought Lytham played at the local Booth's Café.
Are you 100% certain Booth's will let you resume in their café? (May remain closed or takeaway only).

We play at a Booths Cafe aswell. Yeah it won't be until May or June but there seems to be plenty of interest from people.
Our League press secretary has been doing plenty of reports for our local newspaper about our online League.

Just received from the 4NCL:

I’m very pleased to say that we’ve booked 4-star conference centre hotel Woodland Grange in Leamington Spa for our 25th 4NCL Congress on 9-11 July 2021. This will be our first OTB 4NCL congress since the start of 2020 if restrictions are indeed lifted on 21 June as we all hope.

Great news. Assuming this really is allowed to go ahead when the time comes, I expect a rush for places.

Presumably "Guaranteed Events" have a block booking for the weekend on behalf of the 4NCL. The practice is or was that you enter the tournament and then Guaranteed Events would phone to confirm hotel details and take credit card details.

They didn't quibble about refunds or cancellation charges when events in April and May last year were cancelled.
