Hi Geoff. Just wandering the latest on Alex. Is he out of hospital?
He's doing fine. Not ready to oblige the Forum's coffin-chaser just yet

I don't want to bore people but since you asked...

I'm out of hospital but still have to attend regularly. Physically, I still struggle a bit (good excuse for getting out of housework!).
Kidneys continue to improve. My eyesight seems back to normal (full test early in the New Year). Awaiting an MRI.
My voice is unimpaired!!

I still don't remember anything of my first two weeks in hospital, but that may not be a bad thing. Memory still not as good as it should be (but again see above re housework!)

All in all, things could be a lot worse. The only bad news is that my sense of humour has not improved.

Thanks everyone for the kind wishes sent on various platforms. Genuinely much appreciated at what was a difficult time.

I should be fit for otb chess before otb chess is ready to continue!!!!!

Hi Simon,

Lara says Alex is doing find and expects to be fit before OTB chess starts up again,

She also added that he is using this to get out of housework...er...oops!...hello Alex, are you OK mate?

Keeping him off the computer is perhaps too much of a challenge even for Lara

Good to read Alex saying his "voice is unimpaired".
Perhaps there might be a remake soon of Flash Gordon.
I think Alex will be an excellent Prince Vultan.
Give Brian Blessed a run for his money.

So man/woman civil partnerships are officially a thing now?

I am sure Alex will recover from it in a few weeks, it may take a little longer if he had to pay for it of course.

Since 2nd December 2019, under the terms of the Civil Partnerships, Marriages and Deaths (Registration etc) Act 2019.

Fantastic news. Good to see Alex looking well. Hopefully Lara has quit smoking.
I've known Alex and Lara for twenty-five years. They do a great job in the North of England.
It's the first time I've seen Alex wear a suit and Lara's brother looks a bit like Jonathan Speelman.

Yes, I was really worried we would be out of lockdown and have to invite people - and have a reception!!!

My recovery from Sepsis is complete, though I am even worse than before with remembering names.

Thanks for all the good wishes received in so many different ways.

(Lara has quit ciggies but unfortunately she is now addicted to vaping.)
