"The Queen's Gambit" on "A Good Read" Radio 4 Tuesday 30th

Post by Gordon Morse » Wed Mar 24, 2021 12:45 pm

"The Queen's Gambit " is one of the featured books on "The Good Read" on Radio 4 next Tuesday, the 30th, at 4.30 p.m. I expect the television series will get a mention!

I have started a new thread because I thought this might get lost in the "Queen's Gambit and Netflix" thread (and this is radio, not television) and the same applies to the "Media comments" thread, but if the moderators want to move it, that's fine.
I was a victim of a series of accidents, as are we all.

Good spot, maybe somebody bounce this thread early next week
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

When my wife saw the number of men to women in chess she told me she wished she had played chess when she was younger.
HOWEVER, since The Queen´s Gambit aired I have noticed a shift from the usual 25 to 1 ratio and at an International I played in October there were about ten girls of the ninety or so players.
Tasty birds, too...

Clearly we still have some way to go before women chess players are respected for their abilities.
