Well, its quite possible Timman hasn't read as much of it in the past as many of the rest of us will have ;)

Still, let's not forget this is the same person who wrote a glowing eulogy to Edward Winter in one of the latter's books.

There is a letter in the latest New In Chess from Paul Pritchard of Harrogate quite properly criticising Timman for dismissing Ray's 1978 breach of contract as a trivial affair.
