FIDE time control rules

Post by Wadih Khoury » Thu Jan 20, 2022 6:41 pm

I vaguely remember seeing on this forum and elsewhere that FIDE was planning to change the time control eligibility rules (e.g. currently a game of 3 hours like a 60+30 is not eligible for rating players above 2200).

Were the rules ammended or is it only a project in discussion? If they were changed, what are the new time control rules?

They've already been amended and Adam Raoof has changed the eligibility for his tournaments. You can now rate games of players up to 2400 at 60 30 or equivalent.

You can find the new Title Regulations at https://handbook.fide.com/chapter/B012022 and the new Rating Regulations at https://handbook.fide.com/chapter/B022022.
