Tonight at Poulton-le-Fylde Chess Club, we have spent the first 45 minutes marrying chess sets.
We had a number with different size pawns and pieces.
Some were small and shiny while others were larger and matted.
It can be quite off-putting in league matches especially with different size pawns.
Some sets didn't have the correct number of pieces.
With them virtually sorted, it is now easier to work out which pieces to order with Chess & Bridge.
I'm sure we are not the only club with this problem.

Yes, having a piece or (as is more common) pawn a different size/style from the others can be rather off-putting.

Another common problem is sets with missing pieces, usually caused by people hurriedly putting sets away at the end of the evening and putting pieces in the wrong box.
