can anyone tell me when the british championships were held in swansea and dundee, you see i was close to swansea visiting my grans in around 1982 when i saw on tv that the british championships were in swansea and i thought they were following me around when circa1990 they turned up in dundee while i was there at uni

i was a hobby player at the time and didnt go to a club until later in 1990

i would be fascinated to know if any of you went to them

i have been to three british championships in 2012 in north shields and 2013 in torquay and 2018? in hull, i stopped going because i was getting abuse and followed by the security who seemed to latch onto me for some peculiar reason, i think it was because i was and looked stressed. With all the children around they were being extra carefull but i am no pedo and have zero record of anything disgusting.

In relatively recent times:

Swansea: 1987, 1995 and 2006.
Dundee: 1993

I won't forget Swansea 1995 in a hurry. There was a heatwave and the air conditioning at the venue broke down.

I played various events at successive British championships between 1984-1995 but I'm very much English. I did captain Wales women at the 2016 Olympiad though and coached five Welsh juniors at the EU Youth a few years before that.

was sandra blackburn in the team i have played her about 4 times on the english chess circuit

ill embarrass Sandra now by telling a story about her- she said in 2014 wales dont havea good rugby team anymore because they just had lost to samoa, and i said they have lost to samoa a number of times thats nothing new, she protested no they havent she had checked, and i said no they used to be called western samoa and when they beat wales at rugby some old player commented,'what if we had been up against all of samoa'

i finished with 3/11 in 2013 major open, 3.5/5 in u140 british section championships in 2012 north shields and 1.5/5 in soanes weekend tourney in hull 2018
