Name youre favourite chess film

Never really thought about this; most of the chess films I have seen have been documentaries. Would probably go for Game Over: Kasparov and the Machine.

Black and White Like Day and Night

The last two chess films I watched were:

Glory to the Queen
Computer Chess

Those are all top films i mentioned and no documentaries the 1978 one is best of those imo, although bobby fischer against the world is good also.

had that on a blank tape vhs copied off tv about 20 years ago, god knows where it is now probably long taped over. Cant remember much about it.

i was being sarcastic one of the votes was me so there were only 3 votes from hundreds of observers. why?

I imagine because a lot of people have not watched enough of them to feel like they can give an informed opinion - i have personally only seen three on that list and of the three i thought queens gambit was far and away the most entertaining even if it does take liberties with the actual chess content.

Indeed. It's vastly superior to all that tosh in the poll and also probably the only film ever made on chess that is actually worth watching.

Documentary is a different ball game but the bottom line is it being vastly superior to film across the board. And that if you watch a documentary on chess your rating may go up whereas if you watch a film on chess your rating will definitely go down.

Wouldn't have minded seeing a bit less of Fernando Arrabal in that.

He does stand out a bit.
