Re: outrageous escape
the human reaction is to not see the significance of h6+ but you see he played Qh3xc3 the move earlier placing his queen in dire trouble so i thought he had to see the way out a move earlier even when he had bxc3 but if like Jack Rudd says Rhc8 instead of Rac8 instead of Rac8?? wins for Black then maybe i was wrong about his Qxc3 move and he was a human player. ps i think some of your comments on here about the simplicity of the tactic are absurd and ridiculous. Personally with the immediate threat of Rxc3+ i could well have ignored h6+ as not doing anything consequential. Sure i may have played it out of desperation but i most likely wouldnt as it appears to just lose a pawn in the long term.

Re: outrageous escape
Many if not most people might play h6+ (certainly in a blitz game) just hoping rather forlornly that you would take it.
I suppose the amusing thing might be if you declined, they didn't see the follow up - and resigned in a won position.

Sorry, Alan, you're busted.

Like it. Showed the position to my son, who also got h6. Nice tactic and thanks for sharing.
