Re: outrageous escape
Quite an annoying swindle, it's just a little pawn so easy to think it was of no consequence...

yes joey, 1 h6+ and the game went 1...Kg6(if 1 ...Kf8 or 1...Kg8 2 Qxc8+ or if 1....Rxh6 also 2 Qxc8 or if 1....Kh7 2 Bc2+ f5 3 Bxf5+ Kg8 4 Qxc8#) 2 Bc2+ f5 3 Qxd4

Re: outrageous escape
Yow.
(I think 1...Rhc8 would actually have won, although you do have to meet 2.h6+ with 2...Kf8.)

Re: outrageous escape
Based on what? Your opponent found a simple tactic in a position where any other move would have lost.

Re: outrageous escape
define simple tactic Ian to me it looks outrageous the escape plot, i think ian you might reconsider your definition of simple tactic. But it does look like rhc8 wins for black so maybe your right that he found the rght ploy without help.

Yes, anyone finding the only check on the board should be treated with huge suspicion.AlanLlewellyn wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 9:06 amit was just a blitz game but an example of someone cheating against me for sure

Nice swindle but not difficult. Another episode in the long saga of the 'wrong rook'.

White needn't have seen the escape plot in advance, let alone plotted it. It would be in the Beginner section of the Woodpecker Method. The only way you were winning that is if they resigned in despair at seeing their queen attacked.AlanLlewellyn wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 9:59 amdefine simple tactic Ian to me it looks outrageous the escape plot

Re: outrageous escape
The tactics are not what I would consider "usual" by any means so I feel people calling them simple are perhaps not fully explaining what it is that makes it so - in desperation situation like this one it is often best to look for checks (online players especially so, if for no other reason then to spite the opponent for a couple more moves) but in this case there is only a single check available which has a strong tactic linked, and then if the king moves there is another check with another strong tactic. White may well not have fully grasped the ramifications of this when playing h6 but since every move is forcing it is very easy to stumble upon the winning line without even thinking and that is what makes it easier then average to solve.

Alan I think you need to be more careful before going public with wild allegations
It was a blitz game . Your opponent was under pressure . It didn't need to be calculated. Times running out. Ah there's a check. No time to calculate . Just try it. We have all done this
Without a shred of evidence you have accused your opponent of cheating
You should retract your comments

Re: outrageous escape
Tbf the OP *has* highlighted some suspicious episodes in their online games, but no I don't think this was one of them.
I would have played h6+ almost instinctively, in the hope they might take the pawn without thinking or similar.
(it is entirely possible the winning Bc2+ follow up was only seen later)

Re: outrageous escape
I can understand black making that error. It's the fact that Bc2+ isn't just a spite check, it releases the pin. But surely anyone would play h6+, particularly at blitz, even if you're just hoping for Rh6.
