It’s been posted on the chess in media thread, but I think this chess sudoku by Christian König is special enough for its own thread. The sudoku is pretty trivial, it’s really more of a chess construction puzzle which might appeal to some here.

The idea is that you’re part way through a game of chess - some legal moves have been made but

• No piece has moved more than once

• There have been no captures and neither side has castled

Each piece and pawn has a number from 1-8 assigned as marked in their starting positions in the picture. This digit appears in the current position of that piece in the solved grid.

Other (ie non-piece) digits must be placed such that every digit 1-8 appears exactly once each in every row, column and 2x4 box.

The puzzle can be solved here - definitely worth giving it a go if you like chess construction puzzles.
