"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Re: Who owns chess.com?
The (expected by many it seems) death-knell of chess24.com was made official a few days ago:
Chess24 to close on January 31
Posting this here, as it seems the most relevant thread.
Any thoughts here on the future direction of this consolidation. Good, bad, indifferent?
The comments at the announcement page on chess24.com are generally negative. It seems all the chat and community will be lost and not preserved in any way, which is a shame.

Re: Who owns chess.com?
I have to admit I missed the chess24 commentary on Wijk. Chess.com did use the chess24 channel, but the style and commentators were chess.com rather than chess24.
It doesn't surprise me that chess.com don't want to split their audience. But I hope there is enough demand for the kind of commentary Leko or Svidler do that it resumes somewhere else.

I agree - one or two commentators seemed a bit shrill, luckily you can mute them. And in the play-offs, we joined two games at about move 15, not sure why they missed the start. It took me ages to find out how to eliminate the comments from viewers as well.
