2023 2024 season prepation

I am looking forward to playing some OTB chess soon.

I have an annual ritual. I buy an academic year wall planner just for fixtures. An enjoyable hour populating it today - two leagues, county, 4NCL, a couple of tournaments I might enter. In some sense this chart, not the first match, is the start of my chess season

Do others have rituals to prepare for the season? Or should I jot this down for when I get round to seeing a psychiatrist?

Spreadsheet for provisional fixtures - once definitive they go into the paper diary. Tournaments go in to diary as soon as I have an intent to play.

It depends on you and what else you do as to whether this is a requirement for a psychiatrist... with other commitments aside from chess I'd say it's more than reasonable to do this as there can sometimes be a lot to juggle.

I don't buy anything specifically for chess, although that's more because I work in education and therefore plan my life according to an academic calendar.

I have a excel spreadsheet covering everything I need to sort. I cannot survive without it!

I don't do any of that so far... I mainly trust in God...

But if I'm going to play more 'pro' lols I need to be more focused in my training...

" I buy an academic year wall planner just for fixtures."

I had a separate calendar or diary, not really necessary these days for one league and two county matches!

I am also utterly reliant on whatsapp. The new community group feature and announcements page is a time saver.
