A few days ago, in the run-up to Bernard's birthday, I colourised a photo taken at Botvinnik's 1981 simul which includes our two distinguished nonagenarians sitting side by side. More details of the simul may be found here at BritBase:

Steve Giddins has produced a printed tribute to Bernard with contributions from himself, Murray Chandler and me which, all being well, is being presented to Bernard at Hastings CC as I write this post. Hopefully it will be available to read more widely at some point.

Happy 90th Birthday Bernard - fellow Brummie, for a while!
Bernard was ranked 166 in the World in July 1971, with a rating of 2440.
