Which numpty, dork or halfwit is responsible for
https://www.fide.com/fide-launches-firs ... s-history/?
I know six year olds who could have done better with an Etch-A-Sketch and even three year olds who would not have done worse with a box of coloured crayons.
Is there a single part of that stinking heap that was approved before publication by a team of expert historians?
Was it just some idea dreamed up by some committee and dumped on someone to do before Saturday lunchtime, or was it some marketing idea ("never mind the quality, feel the width") or even some junket handed out to some court favourite?

But apart from all that, you quite liked it?

I did the quiz. I got 26 out of 30. I messed up on the longest game and number of moves questions, who invented the Swiss system and a question about Nona Gaprindashvili. Two I got right were educated guesses.

I got 23 out of 30. I only had two wrong by the time I reached question 20, but messed up in the back straight.
I also got the first question wrong (the longest game decisive game at an Olympiad one). And the Nona G question. Less forgivably, I got wrong the first American to defeat a Soviet, the age Nigel Short became a GM, the 2010 Chess Olympiad winner (question should have said winners of the Open!), and the who broke Bobby Fischer's record as youngest GM questions (that last one was really shocking that I rushed it and got it wrong).
I think the other question I got wrong might have been the one about the inventor of the Swiss system, but maybe it was another of the three longest game questions (theoretical longest, actual longest and longest decisive at an Olympiad). No, actually, it was the question about the number of games Kasparov won against Karpov in his 1984 match. Stupid question.

I also did the "which world champion are you?" test.
Apparently, I am Ding Liren!

I got 25 out of 30 in the quiz. That included several correct guesses so I was a bit lucky.
