Ben to say this "in a 10 minute gme, with 3 minute rounds of fighting, ill happily just sit for first 2 3 minute chess rounds and take on magnus or any top 100 chess player "

Why on earth would you say such a abhorrent thing. I think your purely alone on this one I don't see any salubrious, for you saying that you would like to turn "chess" into such a hatred game if you were to do this then chess would become alot less popular and extremely quickly too.

Ben how you managed to turn this thread into coercive thread is beyond me. Let's pray that your idea does not come reality.

Matt.

John, "There are not enough major sponsors of chess" might be a start."

That is exactly what I meant John. I think you will find.

Ben,

Naturally, you are completely correct. No chess player (not even Gazza the Gorilla) is going to take on a Klitscho in a so-called chessboxing contest: one disabling blow finishes the contest. All you need is a minimal level of chess skill to avoid being mated in the couple of minutes beforehand. Good bar talk and great tabloid material, but otherwise chessboxing is not real.

I am not the only person alone making many grammatical mistakes it appears.

"in a 10 minute gme, with 3 minute rounds of fighting, ill happily just sit for first 2 3 minute chess rounds and take on magnus or any top 100 chess player "

This sentence has alot of grammer errors, although the point I am making it's still legible. Therefore previous posts I have made are too. It's just people seem to be academically orientated on one posts, which I find strange.

Carl,

Can you implement a "petulant child alert" button, forthwith, please?

Thanks,

Then perhaps it would have been helpful if you had written that in the first place. We're not mindreaders.

Not that ability to attract sponsorship and/or TV coverage is remotely relevant to the question of whether something is, or is not, a sport.

Yes Paul, whoever it was that created "chessboxing" can't be living in the real world I guess they were only trying to get "Major" sponsors and hope to get in as a programme on television

Paul is this comment directed at me "Can you implement a "petulant child alert" button, forthwith, please?"

Richard how can you say it's " remotely relevant" because nearly ever sport is televised on TV. So therefore I think it's extremely relevant.

I am on holiday today so please play nicely

This isn't true either as I had to go into work to fix an issue with a very large payroll run :(
Cheers

Bad luck. Can I refer you to another thread dealing with "Chess and Alcohol"? Bit of r and r?

One thing I'd like to read here would be debate between one of my favourite posters, Ian Lamb and our new friend, Matt.

Who else looks forward to this prospect?

I was looking forward to David Pardoe taking part - and that infuriating barmpot from Atticus, too (what was his monniker?)

Not that Ian Lamb or David Pardoe are petulant at all, just thay have strange tastes in punctuation, grammar, spelling and relevancy. Probably quite good chaps in the saloon bar, where punctuation is rarely of importance. :)

We are missing the serial ellipsis applicator so loved by Mike Truran...?

Where is he now...?

Lets have a debate only involving the persons mentioned above....

Matt Ward, please post relevant posts or none at all.

In the past I have posted irrelevant stuff on the forum.

However my few thorns of rubbish seem like nothing comparative to the Nettle Bush of BS you seem to have flooded the forum with in the last few days.

Please stop being extreme in all walks of life.
