New forum section suggestion

Post by Ljubica Lazarevic » Thu Jul 01, 2010 9:02 pm

Hi All,

I was looking for your thoughts on whether you would or would not be in favour of a new forum section that is specifically for people looking to share twin hotel rooms at events such as 4NCL.

The reason why I wanted to do a seperate section was so that it would clearly serve this purpose and no other. My concern is that by just pasting potential accommodation sharing in the congress diary section, people searcing for rooms for certain events will lost by other postings not related to accommodation.

Please do post your thoughts below, all feedback is much appreciated!

Cheers,

Lju

Seems a worthwhile thread especially as there's a big difference in price between paying for a single or sharing a twin at events such as the 4NCL, e2e4 etc

Sounds a sensible suggestion.

In an unrelated suggestion, we should also have an adjourned-position section. It's something I plan to experience a lot more this season.

I only question if it needs it's own section, thoughts please?

I think both could do with being seperate to the main discussions on various issues, and a seperate section would serve this purpose
True glory lies in doing what deserves to be written; in writing what deserves to be read.

could the twin room not just be placed as a sticky on the 4NCL section? if it's twin sharing in general for any congress type event though eg British then it would merit it's own section.

What about a section entitled something like 'Congress Resources'? As well as offers to share rooms, it could also cover sharing transport, urgent requests for arbiters, suggestions for new venues, and the like.

If a separate section is thought worthwhile, I suggest it might be for both 4NCL and e2e4 events given we share similar venues and pricing structures. Sean - thoughts?

No objections at my end. Anything that helps players must be a good thing.

This is a good idea.

Hardly limited to the events mentioned. What about the British (not on campus this year, they only have 2-3 twin rooms) but highly relevant for Sheffield; Hastings; Gibraltar and no doubt others.
It should be on the ECF site with links to others. A disclaimer is needed (as there is for Gib) about it being the responsibility of the players.
