Good Luck

Post by Trefor Owens » Thu Jul 22, 2010 12:38 pm

I have just noticed that a few players I know are playing in the British events -
so good luck to Ben Spink, Andrew Waters, Keith Hyde and John Dodgson :)

Especially Keith, who is without doubt the strongest chess player in the street he lives in! and John whom I first played around 1972!

Good Luck to all the other competitors too, especially if your name passed my memory (or eyes)by.
- I am hoping to pop over to Canterbury a couple of times both to spectate and sort out a few logistics.

May the best player prevail :)

Chess is so good! Shame you won't be in Canterbury to meet up with some of your mates. It's not too late to reconsider! ECF membership has some benefits and you'll have your money back in no time - just enter ten more congresses throughout the year! You could of course enter the mid-week rapidplay without having to bother the ECF.

Shhh. You're not supposed to notice...

This does explain the lack of conditions for Grandmasters though...

Thanks David, sadly I won't be able to take out ECF membership until 1st August - maybe i could just play in rounds 4 and 5 of the weekender

Yup! It's called allopurinol and it good for stopping gout! But it's actually useless in the case of pseudo-gout, which some people believe is somthing else. My guess is that I've been playing pseudo-chess for the past 40 years and hadn't been properly diagnosed! Survival rates are improving though as new improved ointments are developed. Assume your entry is stuck in the post?

I should explain my lack of entry to David: I'll be working in the back room helping with the bulletin.
