An average of 10 people use this forum (if not less)
For a federation that has thousands of users and members, why do so few use this forum? Hardly seem to get any comment from the top brass of the ECF apart from a few cursory comments. Please use the poll.

The site is generating a lot of use, where it's coming from etc. is a lot harder to tell - the search engines are busy so it's a good advertising source for a congress
A link is on the grading site of course (which is very busy!) but registrations are a bit low of course

OK Carl,
You provide a great service and I'm definitely not having a go at you. But 3/4 days later and 9 users polled ( though 30+ more have viewed and are too shy to contribute).
One titled player ( sorry Jack, no IM's or GM's, why don't you come to my congress!!)
To be totally honest I'm not sure what this proves, but I would like greater activity from people graded 200+ but it isn't going to happen (unless you pay them!)
Regards
G

I didn't vote because I couldn't decide how regular is "regular".

I don't actually have an internet connection where I live yet I manage to get online at least once a week! I check emails, forums, do some browsing, etc.
I believe that posting on a forum should have a meaning. So many other forums have spammers even in the nicest possible sense. A one word reply to another post is hardly worth the space it takes up. Better to say something worth saying. If that means less actual posts then so be it, so long as people are reading what is being discussed it means that they have an interest.

Frequently is probably a better word than regularly. Once a week maybe...Mike Gunn wrote:I didn't vote because I couldn't decide how regular is "regular".

Re: An average of 10 people use this forum (if not less)
Well coming upto a week and since I first posted this message and we have reached the average. I think all the points raised are valid. I suppose I am surprised that there are not more discussions going on as chess could do with a bit of a boost and there are plenty of hot topic areas that could be covered (and have been!).
My first post (Chess on TV) was incredibly popular and gained a lot of interest and discussion; my intentions were hoping that someone with a tv connection who plays chess often may have read this and been inspired to do something.
This is probably going to be my last post (apart from advertising of congresses I will be running or if someone asks me a question directly) as I am a touch disappointed by the lack of use and I don't think that the ECF exec read this forum or would act on anything discussed on it (such as the lengthy grading stuff that has been discussed!).

Without ECF involvement I agree the forum is somewhat dead in the water - to be honest I am somewhat tempted...Gavin Strachan wrote:Well coming upto a week and since I first posted this message and we have reached the average. A good half aren't even registered - so I sometimes wonder why I waste my "free" in all senses of the word time
