Changing chess completely

Post by Andy McCulloch » Mon Mar 28, 2011 4:30 am

How much notice have National chess bodies had of these proposals from the ECU, President Mr. Danailov?

If there has been notice, how come the first news of these moves come via Chessbase?

The Danailov proposals aren't new and may even have been discussed on this forum. They weren't previously any more than the personal views of the ECF President.

You would be right that the ECF have not expressed a view either in favour or against.

I wouldn't assume the Turkish president to be Mister Nice Guy. He has after all been in favour of
(a) zero default time
(b) banning players from foreign tournaments without permission of their national federation
(c) financing events by insisting on official hotels only and charging more than the hotel's rates.

Possibly got something to do with Danailov an Fred Friedel (Mr. Chessbase) being involved in a long-standing feud.
