I see lots of predictions for a Black win in Summerscale v Jones. It may be worth looking at Summerscale's non-committal White repertoire, which i don't suppose that Gawain fancies very much.

He won't try to bust White apart from the beginning but go softly softly catchy monkey and let his will to win grind White down in about 5 hours.

In short, The Corporal's motto today will be "don't panic".

Ok, but then he's playing on Aaron's natural territory and as I say Aaron is playing well.

But what I find really surprising is the one-sided nature of the votes in Buckley v Hebden! It's not that obvious!

Deliberate plan: Pick what I consider to be the 3 most likely draws (about average), and go with the higher-rated on the other 7 games!

I've gone out on a limb for quite a few of these, in particular with James Adair, who I think is a great player.

1 GM Pert, Nicholas 6.5 ENG 2555 GM Adams, Michael 7.5 ENG 2715 1/2-1/2
2 GM Short, Nigel D 7.0 ENG 2687 GM Wells, Peter K 6.5 ENG 2489 0-1
3 IM Hawkins, Jonathan 6.5 ENG 2457 GM Howell, David W L 6.5 ENG 2625 1-0
4 GM Summerscale, Aaron P 6.0 ENG 2415 GM Jones, Gawain C B 6.5 ENG 2606 1-0
5 GM Gormally, Daniel W 6.0 ENG 2519 GM Gordon, Stephen J 6.0 ENG 2533 0-1
6 IM Houska, Jovanka 5.5 ENG 2418 IM Rendle, Thomas E 6.0 ENG 2386 1/2-1/2
7 IM Buckley, Graeme N 5.5 ENG 2380 GM Hebden, Mark L 5.5 ENG 2533 0-1
8 IM Palliser, Richard J D 5.5 ENG 2454 FM Griffiths, Ryan Rhys 5.5 IRL 2301 1-0
9 IM Zhou, Yang-Fan 5.5 ENG 2444 FM Eggleston, David J 5.5 ENG 2318 1-0

Any way to find out the results on the lower boards in real-time before they appear on the results page? (i.e. Anyone who is there willing to post updates?). Only ten minutes to go - will late entries be accepted??

Yes maybe. Perhaps Jones will just take a rest today - I'm assuming Summerscale would be happy with a quick draw - and then aim to win tomorrow to finish on 8/11. I think that would probably get him 3rd= at best though, so I'd expect him to give it a go today.

Does anyone know what will happen if 3 (or more) players share 1st place after 11 rounds?

I believe there's a Rapidplay playoff on Saturday, regardless of the number of players tied after 11 rounds.
