Chess Arbiters' Association Website

The CAA has launched its own website. It is intended that this site will give advice to arbiters and would be arbiters.

All positive criticism welcome.

Also if you are an event looking for an arbiter you can advertise here (free!!!)

Find the site at http://www.chessarbiters.co.uk

Alex,
This is a welcome resource. :)

Might I suggest that the site be viewed using Mozilla Firefox by the developers since it is not rendering correctly.

I would guess that there is browser dependent mark-up being used. (MF is a stronger adherent to standards).

More users are ditching IE (and rightly so) and moving over from the dark side.

Can I find my nearest arbiter by entering the events venues postcode?

Each arbiter could be added as a Google Maps object and this would allow the above.

All the best,

Jonh

Whatever happened to the CAA website?

Who heads the CAA and who is on the committee?

Does the CAA have any members?

The website is under re-development and will go 'live' during the British.

For a preview see http://www.chessarbiters.co.uk

Thanks Alex.

The preview site looks good and professional.

To my eyes the CAA logo looks unnecessarily phallic. Are there any plans to replace it?

Isn't that in line with many players' opinions? :D

I hadn't seen that interpretation before.

The logo is based on the initials CAA. (Think on the pieces on those files.)

New logo designs welcome.

It isnt responsive. It isnt using the latest HTML and CSS standards. Other than that, it is working fine!?
If you want to know what responsive is, then look at my latest site http://www.thelowestoftopen.co.uk

The link to the preview website has been removed since I last accessed it earlier today.
I guess we will have to wait until the new CAA website is formally unveiled at the British.

Alex, what they mean is that http://chessarbitersassociation.co.uk/index.html which was your original link is showing different material to your current url of http://www.chessarbiters.co.uk - I was lucky enough to keep the old one up in my browser overnight.

Sorry, the address should be www.ChessArbitersAssociation.co.uk

I should concentrate on doing only three things at the one time!!! The fourth was obviously too much. Just back from the Scottish at Helensburgh.

Carl you deserve a link!! I'll get round to it.

What's that? Evidence for the Helensburgh Uncertainty Principle?

I found the minutes of the 2013 AGM interesting reading and particularly enjoyed the following passage:
Alex Holowczak provided details of ‘Proposed New Arbiters Regulations’ from the ECF. The meeting thanked Alex for his hard work (no it didn’t!).
