Nice report, but I'd quibble with "Scottish GM Matthew Turner". He is registered under SCO for FIDE purposes, but calling him Scottish might confuse some (works at Millfield School, Somerset, and I should know which part of England he was born in but it has slipped my mind at the moment). Luckily we can ask Matthew himself (unless he has sworn off the forum for the championship fortnight?). What is the best way to refer to people in such situations? X-born? Y-registered? Z-resident?Andrew Bak wrote:Round 6 Report

Matthew, the predictions seem to be broken for me, in that I can only select one result for all 32 games, not one result each

I simply called him Scottish as he is registered under that nationality with FIDE so assume that's how he would like to be called.Christopher Kreuzer wrote:Nice report, but I'd quibble with "Scottish GM Matthew Turner". I played in a couple of his simultaneous exhibitions at the Millfield International Schools Championships, I put up no resistance on both occasions as far as I remember!

Chris,
I would prefer 'Scottish GM Matthew Turner'. I think a phrase like 'Scottish registered' might imply that I am merely using Scotland as a 'flag of convenience' and this is not the case.

Some things should not go unremarked: a decisive underpromotion to a knight in the AM Open this morning.

Thanks very much Ian.
My night on the Maidenhead CC summer events tonight. I was thinking of talking about how our local juniors are going at the British before the scheduled event. I hadn't thought to check whether any of the fathers had played any brilliancies

A good game entertaining game by Christopher Archer-Lock.
Nice seat of the pant play with a Rook hanging.
Well done Ian for rescuing it from the darkness of a future Database.

Re: British Championships 2012 - Games
yay Jones.
I thought he might play a bit cautiously today, given his lead. but true to style unclear and very risky pawn sacrifice with Black.
