Slightly amusing that the BBC describes him as a "country player" (rather than "county player") - just imagining Dominic wearing a cowboy hat and playing the guitar...

Yes Matt, I have come across a few cowboys when playing in Minor tournaments!

It would be interesting to look at the game, more to see how John Humphries plays really

Looking through a list of Carlsen's opponents, I noticed Jan Tinman who was slightly too young to play Fischer. Huebner hasn't played Carlsen yet, although it's difficult to see the circumstances in which he would.

Fischer must have played in quite a few Olympiads. If the USA v Norway fixture showed up in any of those, we've got a reasonable candidate for a potential opponent-of-both.

Fischer played in 4 Olympiads playing against the same Norwegian player
Svein Johannessen twice in Havana 1966 (two Fischer wins).
No other Olympiad games v Norway.

Magnus has played a lad called Svien Johansen in the Norway Ch 2001.
(same player with a different spelling? most likely not but it can happen
with all those 'ss's' and 'nn's'.)

Johannessen died in 2007, and was playing a couple of years before then - so it is at least possible.......
