No, the quote is what they reckoned he said (I assume he was talking about Georgia Tech's Paul Johnson, but I wasn't certain of that so I did not include it)

I'm not succeeding in tracing it.
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Presumably it was said during the week when the TV play-caller and his colour guys get a chance to sit down face-to-face for private chats with the head coaches of the teams they will be covering on the coming Saturday

If it was said during the week we ought to be able to find it on news media by now, no?

No, not if, as I suggested, it was in a private chat.
I don't actually know that was the case, but that was the implication during the telecast (which has just finished BTW)

Interview with Merenzon in which - no, you'll never guess - he comes up with a remarkable figure.
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

The World Championship got a mention on the BBC 1 Breakfast programme this morning at about 7:30 am with a brief clip of a game.

The report wasn't particularly accurate though - they said the whole of today's event was called Armageddon chess and that the winner would receive €1 million. Two of the three presenters said chess wasn't for them and one said they thought Caruana had fallen asleep. They did, though, acknowledge that a lot of people did find chess interesting.

It was on the BBC News a few minutes ago with video of the final moves of the third rapid play game.

Do you mean on the TV news? The BBC News website has an article but no video:
