BBC1 at sometime this morning between maybe 6 and 8 had their Mike Bushell previewing an underwater chess tournament. I didn't pay much attention as it was just so naff.

According to Britain Today, the newspaper published while on the cruise,
Jeremy Hunt has warned Russia not to use UK citizens as pawns in 'diplomatic chess games.'
He seems to have used this analogy a few times.
But I am surprised nobody else has mentioned this. Thus, there may be some mistake.

Searching for Jeremy Hunt pawns comes up with a few recent reports.

It's probably Hunt's speechwriter. JH was notorious as being the Health Secretary who believed in homoeopathy.

Has at least one thing in common with a certain other Jeremy in the UK political arena, then......

You don't need to be able to swim - you just need to be able to sink!

"You don't need to be able to swim - you just need to be able to sink!"

Fair comment - and I can think of at least one English arbiter who would gleefully default a player for drowning!

Reminds me of a warning by a farmer written on a fence surrounding his deep pond: 'THINK', to which someone had added 'OR THWIM'. True story.

Quite right too. A player who drowns has almost certainly left the playing venue during play.
