I bet gormally could not believe his luck, after mark hebden lost to that random guy early on he never got a chance to compete for the top spot again.
Lose one queen and it is a disaster, Lose 1000 queens and it is just a statistic.

Phil Olbison won the 2013 British Rapidplay Major title last year, he's no random guy!

He's assistant to the MCF President now, too, so no wonder he's improved

In round 3 Hebden should have lost again but somehow managed to win a lost position!!!

Tonight's All-play-all simul was won by the talented Mr Rudd. Jack moved around so quickly it took Brendan O'Gorman fully 20 minutes to get a photo of him standing still at a board. Jack scored 7/8, his only blemish a loss to Philip Olbison! Philip finished off the day with wins against the top three seeds. Not a bad day then. Great fun had by all. Lots of friendly banter with a little trip here and a disguised block there!

Full result:

Jack Rudd 7/8
Ravi Hari 6/8
Mitchell Burke 4.5/8
Robert Thompson 4.5/8
Jude Lenier 4/8
John Garnett 3.5/8
Philip Olbison 3/8
Jonathan Wells 2/8
Tom Thorpe 1.5/8

Great day, and it hasn't really started yet!

Thanks for running the incredibly fun tournament that was the all-play-all simul.

I'll treasure my wooden spoon award forever - great fun, even though I wasn't any good at it!!!

Where are the pairings for the U180? They don't appear to be up yet, and it's 3am :S

It's been reported there's been an attack on the website. The draw is on display in the entrance at the Riviera Centre. If you can pop along. That! All I can tell you.

Yes but that doesn't make sense though - in context, all the other correct draws are posted quite clearly, which seems to negate the idea that this is the result of any specific hacking. Whatever, I also have a bye this afternoon in the PM Open so I can watch the British commentary.

I read somewhere that Keith won 22 - 15!!! It was quite equal til 14-14 and then Keith had a winning streak of 8-1!!!

Sorry can't find where I read it!!!! I saw some of the game yesterday when I finished my second round game at the rapid!!!
