8 moves

Well it's not often I can be accused of being a rampant optimist.

Interesting opp-bishop ending for Flear/Hawkins.

It's a draw. Haven't checked Nalimov, but it just is, should be perpetual right away.

....f5 threw away the win. Something which Hebden gives every impression of knowing.
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

I'm slightly surprised that ...f5 was bad enough to turn the position from winning to a draw (presumably due to the position of the black queen on d4 - the white K can never go to f6), but it's hardly surprising that it's a bad move. You just shouldn't ever weaken your king like that without a concrete reason for doing so. Unfortunate for Yang-Fan.

I assume he plays Howell tomorrow

I'd guess Gawain will have black, but then again I thought Hebden would be black against Keith :?

Does that keep the Championship alive? (I doubt it.)

Ghasi and Howell are spending an awful lot of time just after time control, Howell could seal the Championships right here and now!

Doesn't Ghasi need to draw to keep his GM norm alive, difficult position, needs accurate play, I'm not surprised he is thinking

Shouldn't draws of less than a certain number of moves, (say 16) be illegal?

And all over if David finds Nf5+ and Ne7.

48...f6 is a brilliant GM touch!
