Dont worry we always get the live games pages and webcam up and running before the start of play.

We could be about to see the first occasion in chess history when both players lose on time.

Haha, two well known time trouble addicts, I wonder if they're playing a game of who can out-do the other one?!

Roger of this place and Stephen Homer are really playing quick though, are they double-booked or something?!

Wells will probably play 8...b5 next, that's critical, at least I assume he'll play this before he loses on time.

Black's queen doesn't have many options, say 20...Qf6 21.Rxd7 Bxf1 22.Qxf1 exf3. It seems that White's two bishops could become strong, but White's king is so holey and if those rooks get into play he might be in trouble.

Though I'd certainly agree that it's interesting and Simon isn't one to normally shirk from a line like this!

I was wondering about saccing the queen with 20. g4 Qb5 21. Bc4 Qxc4. All the possibilities seem pretty hard to assess. Simon has chosen 20. Rf2 though, still an interesting position.

I wonder how low you have to be rated in order for Bogdan to try play for a win with Black?

Surely Simon will play g4 now on move 26, the initiative persists into the endgame.

Did Timofeev turn down earlier draw offers I wonder? Bogdan is a great player with a deep understanding of the game. It's just a shame he's two pawns short of a chess set. Still the strategy of winning with White and drawing in short order with Black seems to be serving him ok at the moment and he will be conserving quite a bit of energy for the later rounds. Whereas Arkell, Hebden, Hawkins etc may well have played on for another 100 moves vs Mackle to no avail.
