Keith wins outright if Kalegin draws or loses. If Kalegin wins, then Kalegin will win the title on tie-break. If that game is still going on (this is not clear - I suspect a breakdown in move transmission) then I'm not sure why Keith allowed a repetition instead of playing on. Logically, he would have agreed that repetition only after board two was drawn, or definitely losing for Kalegin, or impossible for Soylu to lose. We will have to wait until that result is known for sure. Does anyone else have anything beyond move 39 on that board two game?

I suspect he knows a draw is good enough to win outright. It's a shame the live feed on board 2 has gone.

In order to play on Keith would have to exchange Ns in the final position, which would straighten out the pawns. Then he needs a little time to deal with the slightly awkward K and R positions. Slightly better at best I'd say - anyone have an engine to hand?

I think permutations 3-10 are all the tiebreak possibilities. Paul, what tie-break do Barle and Soylu have?

Well worth repeating but options are reduced to ii & iii - hopefully not the latter.

So it's porter and a glass o' port for me, later, to celebrate Keith's magnificent victory.

That win in R8 was classic, vintage Keith at his best.
