You probably got the bus driver information from here:

I don't think a forum post like this will get the answers you are looking for, even if you were the right person to be asking.

Her sister Sabrina has been back on the circuit in the past year. If anyone here is in contact with her they should be able to answer your question.

Peter Williams

You should be able to write an email note to Sabrina asking about Teresa, send it to the ECF Office and they forward it to her. She would then be able to decide whether or not to respond. I quite often have a request for contact details and, if I don't know the reason, work this way. There are data protection issues.

You can see at a glance at the FIDE Rating card that she became a WIM in 1984, is rated 2250, and has not played FIDE Rated chess this century. She becomes eligible to participate in 50+ chess next year.

She is just one of many chessplayers who have given up the game. It is particularly sad when it is a strong female player as we have so few of them in chess.

Peter, I apologise for snapping at you earlier. It was the rather flippant "bus driver and has a son" comment that annoyed me. If someone is a private individual, I don't see any reason why "what they are doing these days" is an appropriate subject for a public forum like this. I'm glad to see that Richard and Stewart have pointed you in the right direction.

Thank you Richard and Stewart for your constructive comments.

I have a large library of chess books some going back many years. Often the original owner has made notes in the book and whilst on the one hand I cringe at this on the other it gives one an insight to which one would not normally have access to. I find my mind asking where are these people now and what are they doing and why did they give up chess and thought that other contributers to this forum would with their vast knowledge appreciate this - it appears I was wrong as some viewed my comment as flippant which it was not

Teresa is one of a few once promising English women players who seem to have vanished off the radar - Susan Caldwell and Mandy Hepworth being others.
